As we approach the long-anticipated month of March, I wanted to highlight the Upper School Winterim program at our School. In a week, all of our Upper School students will be traveling together to selected destinations with faculty chaperones. The programs include trips to Belize, China, England, France, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Dominican Republic, and Boston. The trip leaders will focus on a specific area of study depending on the location. The experiences range from service learning, language immersion, science exploration, to the performing arts--and all of them include a focus on cultural awareness.
Brimmer and May believes educating our students to be globally-minded citizens and helping them to understand the interconnectedness of our world is critical to the future success of our students. Learning to have respect for others from an early age helps students broaden their view of how our lives in the United States affect and are affected by others in the world. From our Pre-K program where international experiences begin, our curriculum is designed to cultivate a global view. Next week, our fourth graders will demonstrate this at their annual FourthFest (the study of Japan, South Korea, North Korea, and India).
The Upper School Winterim program is a capstone experience for our students as they explore the world with their teachers. This week-long international experience immerses them in the studies that have led to this event. Please join me in wishing them safe travels as they anticipate their departure next weekend.
Sincerely,
Judy Guild

News from Lower School
Dear Lower School Families,
Have those of you who attended the skating event thawed out yet? Considering the temperature, there was a good-sized crowd enjoying themselves! Another question: is it spring yet? Well let's hope that Winterfest on Saturday, March 7, becomes a celebration of the end of winter. We hope you all are planning to attend this wonderful event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and then you can go see the Upper School musical, Seussical, right after the fun in the gym!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT to Grade 7 Parents/Guardians about WASHINGTON, D.C.
The drop-off time on Monday morning, MARCH 9, has been moved to 5:15 a.m. and IS NO LONGER 5:45 a.m. The bus will LEAVE BRIMMER at 5:30 a.m. and not at 5:45 a.m. The reason for this slight change is that we want to ensure that we plan for any traffic or delays en route.
If you are planning on bringing your child to the airport instead of to Brimmer and May, please be at the airport by 6:30 a.m. Also, please send me an email indicating this plan.
Thank you,
Peter Gordon
