Next weekend we have two important events. Our annual Homecoming event on Saturday, October 18,, promises to be a fun-filled day for students of all ages! Please join us to cheer on the Girls' and Boys' Varsity Soccer teams who will be playing on the Orr field at Dedham Street. We will serve a BBQ lunch, have give-aways for everyone who attends, and catch up with friends and many of our recent graduates.
Then on Sunday, October 19, we will host an Open House for prospective families. Please spread the word about our great School, and encourage your friends to attend so they can learn about our program. This day would not be possible without our many volunteers, and I wish to thank everyone involved in advance for committing a significant portion of their Sunday to this event.
Next week, beginning on Tuesday, we will be hosting a group of students and their teachers from Thailand. They will be visiting classes in all three divisions, attending special programs, and sharing their culture with us. Director of Global Studies, Kelly Neely, has done an excellent job organizing this visit so we can exchange ideas and experiences with people from the Indochina peninsula in Southeast Asia.
Expect a lot of excitement on campus next Friday as we prepare for these two events by having a school-wide Spirit Day. I hope to see you at Homecoming next Saturday.
Sincerely,
Judy Guild
Head of School

Wednesday, October 15 - PSATs for Grades 10 and 11
Students in grades 10 and 11 will take the Preliminary SAT Reasoning Exam. The exam will be given in the Corkin Theatre and is scheduled to take 2 hours and 15 minutes for standard time testing. Results are presented on a 20 - 80 point scale and are sent to the School in December. There is no immediate preparation recommended for the test but students should familiarize themselves with the format and directions by reading through the test booklet provided to them by the School. The College Board suggests that long-term preparations should include continuous reading to improve vocabulary and comprehension; this includes reading beyond that required in classes. Also, students are encouraged to take challenging courses (as indicated by previous course work) to strengthen their critical thinking skills. Go to the College Board's web site for further information.
