3.) GLSEN's No Name-Calling Week: January 20-24, 2014

No Name-Calling Week is an annual week of educational activities aimed at ending name-calling of all kinds and providing schools with the tools and inspiration to launch an on-going dialogue about ways to eliminate bullying in their communities.  If you are interested in registering your school for the event, please follow this link to learn more.

4.) Art and LGBT Rights: A Study of Symbols

Children see symbols around them every day, often without explicitly understanding either the history or the meaning behind these symbols. This lesson will view symbols as a type of art and will focus explicitly on the way symbols have been used to advance LGBT visibility and awareness of fights for LGBT rights.

Teaching Tolerance is a place for educators to find thought-provoking news, conversation and support for those who care about diversity, equal opportunity and respect for differences in schools.

Please click here to access the lesson and learn more about the organization.
