Out of The Silence Art Exhibit Opening - Seattle
Bringing issues of bullying and hate crimes against LGBTQ youth to light.

Opening Reception Tuesday, April 9th
Exhibit is April 9 - May 31

UW School of Law
William H. Gates Hall
Seattle, WA

5:00 p.m.    Art viewing & Reception
6:00 p.m.    Program & Performance by Sensible Shoes of the Seattle Women's Chorus

Bullying.
Hate crimes against vulnerable kids.
Intolerance.
When will it end?
Not until we start talking about it and stop allowing it to happen!

Out of The Silence is a calligraphic art exhibit intended to promote a dialogue about the issues of bullying and hate crimes against LGBTQ youth who are committing suicide at an alarming rate.  Thirty-nine calligraphers from across the U.S. and Canada have selected impactful messages to create 58 pieces of powerful art.  Some of the messages address the issues, and others promote love, self-worth and hope-hope for a better future that celebrates diversity and equal rights for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Out of The Silence will be at the UW School of Law until May 31, 2013 and any art not purchased at a "buy it now" price during the exhibit will be auctioned off online in June.  All proceeds from the art exhibit go to support Pizza Klatch.  Pizza Klatch, an organization that provides weekly lunchtime support groups to LGBTQ Youth and Allies in high schools.

Special thanks to our reception co-sponsor: Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes Catering and Events
(Note: Pizza Klatch is a member of Safe Schools Coalition. We only send fundraising messages for member organizations.)

Important: Safe Schools Coalition is transitioning to using Constant Contact for our email lists on April 1.

By doing this you will have more control by having the ability to choose which subjects you are interested in. In April we will import any who have not yet changed over to the Constant Contact lists and subscribe those to only the default list: "Important Coalition Announcements, Meeting Minutes, etc."  which is about Safe Schools Coalition meetings, activities and needs - so that we don't lose folks who will be able to then add other lists or unsubscribe.
