I first came to Sante Fe, New Mexico sixteen years ago and I was struck with an sense of mana or feeling that I've felt in Kauai and Big Sur. It's not as intense as it is at the other vortexes, but definitely something mystical in the air. It could be due to the 19 Native American Pueblos that exist in the area and the vast beauty of the sky and land. Years ago when I came to this place I felt a pull towards healing and today as I write this I can feel it transforming me. I am here for the Summer Solstice gathering at the top of a mountain in Espanola an hour north of Sante Fe. My Kundalini practice has brought me here to be a part of the community, and to really commit to this yoga science which can transform neuro-pathways in your brain. It has not been an easy journey. My older daughter and I missed our flight to Sante Fe due to a delayed shuttle getting us to the terminal, and from there the whole day unraveled down into a rabbit hole. It became about missed moments, annoyances and complications, which means that I was traveling towards a life changing situation since change is never an easy path. Throughout the day I had to remind myself that this is when the practice comes in handy, learning patience and how to breath through discomforts. The good news is we laughed a mighty amount. The next day we made our way to the top of a mountain where thousands of people dressed in white walked for peace in a yogic and Hopi tradition. Today at one of the lectures I heard beautiful words from a guru: "If you want to see how rich you are, count all the treasures in your life that money can't buy."
Today is day seven here and my last day. I took part in few days of White Tantric which definitely was life changing. I experienced pain, bliss, gratitude, love, innocence, extreme physical discomfort, God, and ecstasy. 2500 of us held poses, chanted and meditated with a partner for 6 to 8 hours. More on this experience to come.
