I don't like to call them New Year's Resolutions but instead affirmations. More and more I realize we can manifest whatever we want as long as we truly believe. This year I am determined to make things happen. As I get older my mortality stares me straight in the face and I get it "Now or never!". In that case I am using that bar of special soap that my friend Dana gave me in 1999 (really I know it's quite old but it was one of those Rose soaps by Racine.) Is there something you have been holding on to for a special day? Today truly is that day.Things I want to do this year: 1) Simplify. This means everything from weeding out ratty clothes in my closet, saying no to things I really don't want to do, and organizing my pantry. 2) Get a new computer. I have a problem with changing electronic devices. I swear my TV is from 90's and my apple computer is the old white lap top circa 2000. 3) I won't say give up sugar because frankly I need my bit of chocolate fix at 4 pm, but reducing sugar intake I can handle. 4) Service. I used to have a life filled with service in the years when i was a cushioned married woman, but now raising two daughters and trying to make a living has pushed service to the bottom of my pyramid of life. I remember though, the immense happiness and gratitude I received when helping others. 5) Be present with my children, friends and loved ones. 6) Not be reactive. If someone upsets me I will walk away and take a breathe before speaking. Our words once spoken can never be taken back. 7) Remember to be an artist. This means to just see things from that perspective. Also to find artistic fulfillment in the details whether it be preparing a meal, writing a blog post, gardening, dressing, anything!! To embrace ambition and desires. I think growing up in a judeo/catholic/middleastern society somehow taught me that my desires are not to be embraced, but we must accept our true desires and dreams if we want to manifest and take flight. 9) To dance more. Movement flows into joy and that manifests into health. 10) To really stick to "electric free sundays." That means no computers, i phones, etc. and just games, talking, walking, crafts. Happy New Moon Roses and remember keep your heart in charge!
