I have lots of energy. I feel sometimes as if there isn't enough time to do all the things and go to all the places I dream about. At the same time I crave to hunker down and be able to be fully present with my girls and listen to my inner voice. If we look at the wisdom of the animal kingdom and nature that surrounds us, we can see the benefit of going inward for the Winter season. There must be a reason when we wake up to pouring rain we crave to stay inside, make a fire, drink a warm cup of tea and cuddle up with loved ones. I love to read about Native American traditions, and one that has stayed with me is the idea that many tribes would all gather in a lodging for the long cold winter months basically hibernating like the bears. They would share their food, the young would gather around the elders to hear their tales, the warriors would repair their weapons, women would craft and the natural cycle would be respected and honored. Of course we cannot call into work and say we need a winter day, but we can curtail on some activities without feeling guilty.
This week I continue my partnership with EILEEN FISHER who has created a plethora of cozy sweaters in an ethical sustainable way. We have a holiday craft party where we make holiday cards and ornaments all from natural sources. I visit with the lovely singer and actress Mia Maestro, and discover Weleda oils. We have a giveaway on The Local Rose Facebook page for a Weleda cream, meet with Piper from Atwater Farms and more!
I send you all blessings and peace as you gather for winter rest in order to bring forth seeds in the spring!
