The cut was red, inflamed, getting infected by the minute. The energy in the house began to feel heavy, electric and dark. That day strange things began to surface that drained the light from my perspective. What does one do when the darkness decends? I burn mountain sage, play uplifting angelic mantras or music, chant, pray, dance, try to laugh and make it a bitter fight where the light will emerge as the victor.
Two weekends ago there was a particular Sunday where I truly felt some entity came knockin on my door. Strange and unsettling things began to happen. As I was dipping my infected finger in hot water and salt, i realized that in essence we are all fighting every day a battle between dark and light. The decisions we make, thoughts we think, the words that come out of our mouths, it all is at base a choice we make about how we see the world. Sure I can become worried that it is 91 degrees in the middle of October, but instead I try to replace the anxiety with the thought that mama earth is resilient and can heal herself. For every unconscious idiot out there who wants to continue fracking andbuilding oil pipelines (Keystone Pipeline), across our great country, there are at least ten beautiful souls who want to stop the madness and regenerate the planet.
Three times I have had to deal with an infected finger that had to be drained surgically. I am prone to infections because of gardening and I refuse to take antibiotics. This time I treated the finger with the determination that i was going to win over the infection, over the darkness. My finger is all well now. The temperature has dropped today. It finally feels like October.
