Chances are if you reading this it's on the new site. Due to some hacking and spam issues I had to change the format and look of the site to this version. I miss the homespun, simple format of the old rose, but change is growth and progress is always nipping at our heels. The transition has been far from easy. There was one day in particular when I thought I had lost all of the last years work. Because the site was not where I wanted it, I became impulsive and looked on the internet (Craig's List) for someone who could work Wordpress. I went to meet this person at a Starbucks in Hollywood and after a few minutes of sitting down with him, my site had completely disappeared into the ethers. Okay there are many lessons here, but the one I keep coming up against is that I trust too easily and am really naive to put it nicely. The bigger issue is how do we maintain trusting, open hearts in our every day dealings yet be savvy and street smart enough to bypass the predators? Stella Adler one of the most incredible acting teachers of all time used to state "to be an artist one needs the skin of a rhinoceros . . . yet the soul of a rose." This has been a challenge for me most of my life, and I have been burned many times by not sussing out a person's intention and just seeing the good. This has also led me to wonderful relationships and experiences which I would have lost out to if my rhino hide was too tough.

At the time when The Local Rose was lost many emotions ran through me: what an idiot I am; at least my children are okay; how much I have loved working on the site; how much all of my subscribers mean to me; there are bigger problems in the world, like the horrible shooting rampage in Afghanistan this week; this too shall pass . . .

I'm still trying to navigate a way to send a newsletter but for now please continue tuning in and let me know your thoughts about this new look. Truly missed connecting to all of you. Keep your rose souls . . .
