Pruning & Pastries - March 2
Take the pruning challenge. The
6th annual Six Sigma Pruning and Pastries event will be held on Saturday, March 2, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Six Sigma Ranch. The event will kick-off with a team of professional pruners vying for prizes in a race for speed and accuracy. Professional judges will determine the winners.
Bring friends and family, watch the pros compete, then join a hands-on demonstration of winter pruning techniques. Just for fun, give the not-so-serious amateur pruning competition a try. Prizes will be awarded. Event fee of $15 per person includes a continental breakfast. Meet under the oak trees just inside the ranch gate, dressed for the weather. Sturdy shoes or boots are recommended. Rain cancels the event. Reservations required.

Ceago Vinegarden
Ceago Vinegarden is owned by Jim Fetzer, who grew up with his ten brothers and sisters in the vineyards of Mendocino County. The Fetzer Family built their business into an internationally-recognized and respected winery. In 1968, the Fetzer's started producing just a few dozen cases, and by the time the family sold the winery in 1992, Fetzer Vineyard was producing two and a half million cases of wine annually and was growing 1,200 acres of winegrapes certified organic. In 1993, Jim Fetzer established Ceago Vinegarden.
Ceago's vineyards share a 163-acre estate with palm and cypress trees, olive groves, fruit trees, walnuts, figs, lavender fields, vegetable and herb gardens, agaves, and riparian vegetation. Sheep and chickens roam the land, along with wild turkeys, raccoons, birds, butterflies, and native bees. All of these beings contribute to the vitality of Ceago's air and soil.
In 1996, Ceago Vinegarden's property received Biodynamic certification. Biodynamic farming encourages self-sustaining methods and the techniques utilize the vineyard's natural resources to cultivate the highest quality grapes without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or genetically modified organisms.
In addition to the farm, Ceago offers a tasting room, seasonal open-air cafe, a conference room, and an extra long pier where boats and seaplanes can dock.
Tasting Room open daily, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
