The truth is - the public has been largely misled about sodium in softened water. While a Water Softener does use sodium chloride to regenerate resin, very little sodium is left in the treated water.
Based on extensive water test results performed by National Testing Lab and compiled over the past decade; we know that water hardness of 8-10 gpg (common for this area); has 30 to 50 mg/L of sodium when treated by a Water Softener.
Put simply - you may consume FOUR 8 ounce glasses of water and ingest only 30 mg of sodium.
If your water tastes salty; the Water Softener timer may need to be reset; the control settings may be improper, or it is in need of service.
