Your well cap is an important part of your well system.  The type of well cap will affect safety of your drinking water.  The cap depicted in this picture is not a sealed, vermin proof cap.  An appropriate cap will prevent insects from nesting in your well head; keep out small rodents and reduce the chances of bacteria entering your well.
