BBB Shred Day
BBB employees helped consumers shred more than 58,000 pounds of sensitive documents April 16.
Shred Day: Consumers Brought 58,247 Pounds Of Sensitive Documents For Safe Shredding

BBB collected more than 58,000 pounds of sensitive materials for shredding at four locations on April 16. That should help a lot of consumers protect themselves from identity theft.

We thank all the volunteers who helped and Shred-it, which brought shredding trucks to Saint Louis Galleria, Edwardsville Schnucks, Office Depot in Columbia and West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau.

The government-ordered shutdown of Cancer Fund of America and its affiliante, Cancer Fund of America Support Services, is good news for honest, ethical charities and the donating public, Better Business Bureau Serving Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois said in a press release. BBB began warning donors about Cancer Fund of America and related charities seven years ago, noting that less than a penny of every dollar raised by the charity went directly to help people with cancer.

Hawkins

Charles C. Hawkins, whose custom shirt printing business was the focus of several consumer complaints between 2004 and 2009, is again under fire for taking customers' money and not delivering their clothing, BBB warns.

Hawkins' most recent complaints involve Midwest Graphics & Sports, which operated at 2901 Virginia Avenue in south St. Louis. Hawkins previously operated Aristocrat Sports at 1023 N. Grand Blvd.
