SUCCESS STORY
Jeanie's Flowers and More Opens in Flatwoods!

With more than 25 years in the floral industry, Jeanie Hammond is no stranger to managing a flower shop. For the past several years, she has managed Flowers and More in Flatwoods, Kentucky. The Greenup county

florist is actually a combination of three flower shops - Country Bow-Kay, Gina's Flowers, and Luna's Flowers.

In May 2014, the current owners of Flowers and More were interested in selling the shop to Jeanie. That is when she met with Ashland SBDC Consultant Kim Jenkins to discuss her plans for purchasing the business. Her lender referred her to the Ashland SBDC for loan guidance and business buy-out advice.

Jeanie and Kim discussed various topics including the purpose and importance of a buy-sell agreement, review of the company's past financial data, and loan information she would be required to submit for purchasing the business.

In July 2014, Jeanie's loan was approved, and she became the new owner of Flowers and More. She renamed the business Jeanie's Flowers and More. The florist is located in the former Amir's Pizza building on Bellefonte Road in Flatwoods, Kentucky.

The store hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Saturdays 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. The store accepts cash as well as credit and debit cards. They offer pick-up or delivery of fresh cut and silk floral arrangements, plants and planters, balloon and candy bouquets, throws and quilts, wind chimes, pictures, wreaths, candles, gifts, and home décor. The shop delivers to homes and businesses, hospitals, funeral homes, nursing homes, etc...
