A native of Martin County Kentucky Tyler Stephens love for music began at a very young age pushing the buttons on the cassette player at his grandmother house; this later turned into strumming the guitar and many other musical instruments. Tyler was raised only minutes from the well-known Country Music Highway, US 23 which is well known for turning out country greats. Tyler's idol among those is Keith Whitley.
Tyler played, wrote, and sang music throughout high school. Now at age 21 he has hit the road setting his sights on a successful musical career. Many wonder how he has been so successful at such an early age and Tyler comments, "A lot of hard work; but, mainly I have family, friends, and fans to thank for everything. " Songs from Tyler's album like "Freedom Don't Come Free" are prime examples of the music Tyler stresses to deliver to fans. It has become a great success for Tyler and struck listeners all over the country to pay attention to why we are the land of the free.
With tour dates planned and success on the horizon Stephens was met with the financial stresses that come with pursuing a musical career. Stephens was in need of transportation and equipment to continue his dream of becoming a successful artist. Stephens first visited the Paintsville Small Business Development Center in March 2014 meeting with Michelle Spriggs Management Consultant.
Stephens and Spriggs reviewed his need for transportation and equipment, funds needed and the process to acquire funding for these purchases. A business plan, projections and marketing plan were developed in the months that followed. In May Stephens received a commercial business loan through MACED allowing him to purchase a van and equipment which allowed him to continue his musical career.
Stephens tours the United States holding true to his heritage along with his band members. He is known for his straight from the heart traditional country vocals, and hauntingly reminiscence of his idol, Keith Whitley. Stephens is grateful for the services that he received from the Paintsville SBDC and cannot thank them enough for their help. He is living his dream and loving every day of owning his own business.
