Frontline Services, LLC
In January 2014, a young man with welding, supervision, and management experience contacted the Ashland SBDC. He wished to start a business and industry personnel/staffing company that supplies highly trained quality inspection workers to companies that have outsourced their quality department. The workers would provide clients with safe and reliable code inspections, coordination, supervision, quality control, and other support services such as writing repair and replacement recommendations, verifying code repairs, performing and/or witnessing testing, and full documentation of findings. He planned to apply for a line of credit to help him cover initial start-up, payroll, and overhead costs. His lender referred him to the Ashland SBDC for review of his business plan and development of 3-year financial projections and loan paperwork. Over the next few weeks, the client worked with Ashland SBDC Consultant Kim Jenkins. They discussed his company's estimated employee wages, overtime pay, per diem costs, workers compensation and liability insurance costs, and projected sales. They were then able to finalize his business plan, 3-year profit-loss/cash flow financial projections, personal financial statement, and other required paperwork for loan submission. In March 2014, the client was approved for a line of credit from his bank to cover his initial start-up costs, payroll expenses, and other working capital needs. His new business created 4 jobs.
