A graphic designer and screen printer visited the Ashland SBDC office to discuss the possibility of expanding and relocating his business. He had been operating in a rented 800 sq. ft. building in downtown Ashland, KY, and he was quickly outgrowing the space. He was interested in purchasing commercial property to expand. He met with Ashland SBDC Consultant Kim Jenkins for a few months, and together, they reviewed potential locations, expansion and relocation costs, and loan options.
The client located some commercial property for sale in Flatwoods, KY. Jenkins assisted him with business planning, financial forecasting, and loan packaging. She worked with him to prepare three-year cash flow/profit-loss financial projections and loan paperwork for submission to MACED.
In May 2013, the client was approved for funding through MACED to purchase and renovate the commercial property and to purchase additional graphic design and screen printing equipment/machinery. Once fully renovated, they moved into their 9,000 sq. ft. building in Flatwoods, KY that now serves as a fully functional commercial production facility. Their larger space and newly purchased automated equipment will enable them to continue growing and taking on new clients.
