2013 Regional Entrepreneur Conference
Small Town Opportunities
The 2013 REC was held on September 5.  The conference had a huge turnout of over 100 attendees.  This year's theme was "Small Town Opportunities".  Throughout the day there were workshops and networking sessions.  The topics included:  TENCO Business Services Team, How to get a loan, merchandising and exporting. The morning speaker, Shawn Rodgers and the keynote presenter, Marc Willson, gave some great insight, tips and tools for the small town merchant to use in their day to day business.

We would like to thank this year's sponsors and exhibitors.

Kaleb Kash came to the Morehead office of the Kentucky Small Business Development Center in October of 2012.  He wanted to put a pizza place in the family's convenience store business in Frenchburg, Kentucky.  Kaleb met with Mark Murphy of the Morehead office of the SBDC and they discussed costs, inventory, business structure, the loan process, marketing and many other business related topics.  After a few meetings, the two combined their research and put together a rough draft of a business plan and projections.  Once the draft was reviewed, the final plan was put together with three years projections, industry data, census data, sample menu, equipment and marketing plan.  Kaleb took the completed proposal to Citizens Bank in Owingsville.  The loan was approved and Kaleb was able to purchase equipment and inventory for the new business.  Presto's was opened June 28, 2013.  Including himself, Kaleb has 3 employees and is enjoying serving the people of Frenchburg.  Kaleb stated, "working with Mark and the KSBDC was great.  He provided some great assistance."  You can contact Presto's at 606-768-2426.
