Sounds of the Chesapeake Storytelling Festival

April 10, 2015  7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Chesapeake College

The Queen Anne's County Arts Council is pleased to partner with Chesapeake College to bring the power of storytelling to the Eastern Shore.  We welcome nationally acclaimed storytellers Tim Lowry and Geraldine Buckley to our inaugural festival.  A simple story breathes life into information people want to share with each other.  There is no substitute for the power, simplicity, and basic truth of the well-told story.  The power of storytelling is unquestionable.  We are all storytellers - we live our lives through a network of stories.  People, crave, remember, and honor stories.  Storytelling is for everyone regardless of age, demographic, or background; it brings us together.  Whether they are tall tales or true tales, ancient or modern, stories have a way of bonding listeners together as they become fellow travelers on a magic carpet ride to the land of long ago and far away. Join us for an evening of mesmerizing stories and get swept away!

Geraldine Buckley
Tim Lowry

Tim Lowry tells stories of the People, by the People, and for the People.  He mixes stories of American History and Folklore with the tales of growing up Baptists, teaching English to Russian immigrants, exciting trips to Disney World, baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, Chevrolet!  An original voice with stories from his Kentucky roots, his travels across the country, and his home on the "Sweet Tea Trail" in Summerville, SC.  Tim is Americana with a mic.

Geraldine Buckley shares folk tales and Greek myths and performs true stories based on her own globe-trotting adventures.  Until January 2010 Geraldine was a chaplain at the largest men's prison right here in Maryland.  Geraldine has won prestigious Gold Awards from the Storytelling world.  She is also an accomplished speaker specializing in making her audiences laugh and think.

Tickets are available for pre-sale at $45 per person. Intermission refreshments with cash bar provided.   Call 410-758-2520 to purchase.

Dangerous Deceptions by Sarah Zettel

In the second of the "Palace of Spies" series,by Sarah Zettel, we find our heroine, Peggy Fitzroy, firmly established in the court of King George I as a maid of honor, and personal spy, to Princess Caroline. Things get a bit more complicated for her on a personal level when her former betrothed comes back to claim her hand at her uncle's insistence. Peggy knows there is something unusual about this arrangement, and will stop at nothing to get herself out of it, and back in the arms of her beloved Matthew!
