Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey
Maud Horsham has dementia. Even so, she believes that her best friend, Elizabeth, has gone missing. Of course, no one believes her because she is always so confused. Maud constantly writes notes to herself, but can't remember when or why she wrote them. Healey weaves Maud's current story in with Maud's past, when her sister Sukey goes missing shortly after the end of World War II. Is it possible that the key to finding Elizabeth is connected to Sukey's disappearance? This mystery is powerful in its insight into memory loss, identity, and aging as we watch Maud's gradual mental decline and her desperate quest to find Elizabeth.
