Friday, Oct. 10 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Illustrated talk by Thomas G. West (in the library meeting room)

followed by a tour of the West Gallery (Lawyers Row, Centreville)

Charles and Anne West always remained true to the vision of the French Impressionists of the late 19th century -- with lively and colorful oil paintings of rural landscapes, town and river scenes, portraits of local people -- in many cases recording the history of the Eastern Shore before the Bay Bridge was built. Join us for an illustrated talk by their son, Thomas G. West.  We will then view the three painting owned by the library and walk to the West Gallery on Lawyers Row where we complete the program.  Don't miss this rare opportunity to visit the West Gallery and learn more about these notable artists.

Book Discussion

A new book discussion group is forming at the library.  A second chance to read and discuss the books you should have read in high school and college. Even if you read them as a teen - life experiences may make them more meaningful as you re-read them.  The first selection is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley which has little to do with the movie version.  Join us for this morning program.

What Staff are Reading

John is reading...

Fire and Ash by Jonathan Maberry

The fourth and final installment in the Rot & Ruin series does not disappoint.   Benny Imura and his friends have made it to Sanctuary and they are being kept in the dark about what happened to the crew of the plane they found as well as the status of a cure for the zombie plague. Benny is frustrated by the secrecy of the adults in command of Sanctuary so he takes matters into his own hands and risks his life to find answers.   Can 15 year old Benny save his friend Chong who was bitten and has the plague, Sanctuary, and his hometown of Mountainside from the insane Saint John and his reapers of the Night Church?     Once you start this action packed dystopian novel with strong teen characters you won't be able to put it down.
