Highlighting a Community Partner
www.casaqackent.org
CASA is a national nonprofit organization which trains and supports volunteers to speak out and act as advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children.  They are trained to work within the child welfare and family court systems and are appointed by judges to individual cases.  With the help of a CASA volunteer, a child is half as likely to languish in the foster care system and is much more likely to find a safe and permanent home.

Food and Farming: A Conversation
Sunday, April 6 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Introducing the Broadcloth Digital Snapshot Stories and a screening of the documentary FRESH

FRESH is more than a film, it is a reflection of a rising movement of people and communities across America who are re-inventing our food system. Encouraging individuals to take matters into their own hands, FRESH is a guide that empowers people to take an array of actions as energetic as planting urban gardens and creating warm composts from food waste, and as simple as buying locally-grown products and preserving or freezing seasonal produce to eat later in the year. A discussion and sampling of locally grown foods will be available for tasting after the film.

Dessert will be provided by the library. Seed packets will be available to take home.

The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty

Imagine your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret - something so terrible it would destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others, too. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive...

A variety of women gather for a week-long "Quiltgiving". Their mission is to create beautiful quilts for charity. By sharing scraps of their life stories they form bonds which strengthen and heal. There are some gems about saving a small town library fro funding cuts and the threat of a book burning event.
