Life Science - Bricks 4 Kidz
Friday, March 28 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
For ages 5 - 13
Explore the fascinating science of living things and build engaging models of creatures from caterpillars to dragonflies. During this unit, students will explore topics including the amazing life cycle of a butterfly, and investigate the Venus Fly Trap -- a plant that eats bugs! If you love creatures, this is the class for you.  Builds are dragonfly & caterpillar. Registration required. To register, please visit www.bricks4kidz.com/qac and click "View Classes" at the top.  All library programs are free of charge.

Transportation - Bricks 4 Kidz
Friday, April 4 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
For ages 5 - 13
If you like planes, trains and automobiles, then this unit is for you! Students will build motorized models of a train & airplane.  Explore the history of transportation from the development of the automobile and flight. Each lesson introduces terminology related to each mode of transportation, like "lift and propulsion" for the airplane, as well as describes how each "vehicle" works. And the best part is -- the models are so much fun to play with! Lots of building fun ahead with motorized models of a train, and airplane. These models rock, roll and spin! Your child can follow our step-by-step model plans to create their vehicle, then customize it to their own specifications and take their mini-figure for a ride! Builds are train and plane. Registration required. To register, please visit www.bricks4kidz.com/qac and click "View Classes" at the top.  All library programs are free of charge.

Sports Spectacular - Bricks 4 Kidz
Wednesday, May 14 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
For ages 5 - 13
Explore sports in this unit. It is a great way to get "sporty" kids building and get LEGO fans interested in sports. Some lessons focus on the importance of physical fitness and different aspects of fitness, such as stamina and strength. Other lessons describe the mechanics of the sport. But the best part for the students is the way the models move and the fun they have playing with them after they're built.   Maybe they'll be inspired to try a new sport, or build a model of their favorite sport!  Builds are basketball & soccer. Registration required. To register, please visit www.bricks4kidz.com/qac and click "View Classes" at the top.  All library programs are free of charge.

Reclusive author Vida Winter, famous for her collection of twelve enchanting stories, is ready to reveal the truth about her extraordinary existence and the violent and tragic past she has kept secret for so long.  Calling on Margaret Lea, a young biographer troubled by her own painful history, Vida disinters the life she meant to bury for good.  Margaret is mesmerized by the author's tale and together, Margaret and Vida confront the ghosts that have haunted them while becoming, finally, transformed by the truth themselves.

The Omnivore's Dilemma: a natural history of four meals by Michael Pollan
Thursday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m.
Book Discussion Group

In The Omnivore's Dilemma, Michael Pollan writes about how our food is grown -- what it is, in fact, that we are eating. The book is really three in one: The first section discusses industrial farming; the second, organic food, both as big business and on a relatively small farm; and the third, what it is like to hunt and gather food for oneself. And each section culminates in a meal -- a cheeseburger and fries from McDonald's; roast chicken, vegetables and a salad from Whole Foods; and grilled chicken, corn and a chocolate souffl (made with fresh eggs) from a sustainable farm; and, finally, mushrooms and pork, foraged from the wild.
