Anti-Bullying Unity Day
Visit your library branch from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. to add your orange hand print and signature to a "Bullying Stops with Me" mural. After completion, the mural will hang on the circulation desk.

One Maryland One Book
|  King Peggy
by Peggielene Bartels and Eleanor Herman King Peggy chronicles the astonishing journey of an American secretary who suddenly finds herself king to a town of 7,000 souls on Ghana's central coast, half a world away. Upon arriving for her crowning ceremony in beautiful Otuam, she discovers the dire reality: there's no running water, no doctors, no high school, and many of the village elders are stealing the town's funds. Peggy's first two years as king of Otuam unfold in a way that is stranger than fiction.

Read to a dog from Pets on Wheels to develop reading skills and confidence. Please call 410-643-8161 to reserve your time slot.
Story Time Due to growth in attendance, we will now be offering two story times on Thursday mornings, at 10:15 a.m. AND then repeated at 11:00 a.m. This is a change from the previously advertised 10:30 a.m. time!

FutureMakers: Rubberband Racers Thursday, October 17 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. For Kdg - 5th grade Design, build and race a custom car using familiar and unusual materials, powered by rubber bands or gravity! Discover how the right combination of weight, surface area, friction and gravity interact. All projects go home. Parents are encouraged to participate. Please pre-register by calling 410-643-8161. Do you have questions or need help signing up for health care under the new Affordable Care Act? Queen Anne's County Navigator, Hope Clark, and her assister, Regina Carpenter, will be at the Kent Island Branch to answer any questions you may have about the Affordable Care Act and how it may affect you. At this event, you will also have the chance to register for an appointment to meet with either Hope or Regina at the library for assistance with applying to the program.

Come to the TAB meeting and help plan future programs, pick out books and work on special projects for the library! Make sure you bring your current read or a favorite book to recommend to the group.
Teen Read Week At the Library - Seek the Unknown in the Catalog
Monday, October 14 through Saturday, October 19 For grades 6 - 12 Create reviews in the catalog of books you have read recently. For every review you write in the catalog you can choose a book that is yours to keep from our prize stash! To receive your book show a library staff member your review.
Edible Book Project Friday, October 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For grades 6 - 12 Pick up a take-out project kit containing everything you need to make your own edible books. Using fruit leather and white chocolate you can make your books delectable. Pick up your supplies in the children's room or at the circulation desk.
Teen Movie Night - Warm Bodies Friday, October 25 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. For teens 13 - 18 - the movie is rated PG-13 Come to the library to watch the movie Warm Bodies based on the book by Isaac Marion and loosely based on the play Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare. Bring a friend and enjoy a good movie and snacks!
