Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party
|
Wednesday, July 31 10:30 to 12:30
Drop in to your library branch for cake, crafts, LEGOs, sidewalk chalk art, prize books and award certificates to celebrate your summer reading success!
No registration required and ALL ages are welcome!
Summer reader's who can't make the party are welcome to stop by their branch the week of July 29 to claim their FREE book.

Babies and Tots age birth to 5 can now have their very own TODDLER library card!
Parents and Guardians may sign their children up for this special card to check out children's materials, including books, music and books on CD. It has been proven, many times over, that reading to children promotes early literacy and helps children enter school ready to learn.

Mother Goose on the Loose
Fridays, July 19 & 26 at 10:00 a.m. For ages 3 to 36 months with caregiver Nursery rhymes, songs, movement, puppets, and story followed by playtime.

Friday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m.
For Kdg. thru 5th grade
Develop reading skills by reading to a dog from the Delmarva Chapter of Pets on Wheels. Signing up for a 10 minute slot is suggested. Walk-ins also welcome if time permits.

Cupcake Wars
Wednesday, July 24 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
For grades 6-12
Bake and decorate mini cupcakes for a taste/presentation challenge judged by the librarians. Please sign up beginning on June 17 to receive a list of available ingredients and supplies. You may wish to bring your own secret ingredients and special kitchen tools. Recipe research assistance will be available all summer to help you plan. Winners will be invited (but not required) to bake for our summer reading wrap-up party and will be featured in the library newsletter. Call 410-643-8161.

Read Away Your Fines

For grades 6-12
Come in to the library for a chance to read away your fines. For every 30 minutes spent reading in the library, $3.00 will be forgiven from your account balance. You can read away a total of $12.00. Stop by the circulation desk before you begin to make sure that your reading counts.

Interested in creating your very own Anime character? Artist and Japanese culture enthusiast Hanna Kingsley will lead participants through the process of character creation from initial drafts to the final inking with an exploration of color techniques along the way.
