From the Director's Desk

LS2 has launched!

Our new computer system installation was completed this week and our first day "live" on the new system was Thursday, June 14, 2013.

We believe many of the new features in LS2 will make using the library from home easier than ever.   Not sure when your books or DVD's are due, no problem, you will now receive a courtesy notice 3 days before your due date reminding you that the items need to be returned or renewed.   You have the option to receive this courtesy notice via email or text message.   Our library catalog has a new look and has a very simple interface which includes images of book and movie covers as well as a prominent button for placing holds or renewing items. The computer system will also now track your loan history so you can check to see what items you have borrowed previously.  The new system also allows for an EZ login for your account allowing you to create a customized username and password to access your library account.  Our new catalog is also touchscreen compatible so you can easily use it on any tablet device.

The transition to the new system went smoothly and all our important data made it into the new system with the exception of pin numbers which are needed to access your account online.  You will need to call the library or stop in so we can reset your pin number.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Additional features will be introduced over the next weeks including a new and improved library website, an option to pay fines online, and the ability to put a hold on a book or movie that is on order.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any comments or suggestions regarding our new computer system or the library in general jwalden@quan.lib.md.us  410-758-0980 ext. 12
