The Library is looking for a few (or more) good men (and women) to volunteer to help with programming and services. Some of the specific skills that are needed...
- Resume Writing and/or Job Search
- Device Advice (how to use all sorts of electronic devices)
- Adopt a Shelf (helping to keep a section of shelving neat and tidy)
- Computer Software Skills (especially Microsoft Office products)
- Any other skills that you have, that you are willing to share with others, via a library program or club.

For all ages (1/2 day for Queen Anne's County Public Schools)
Using recycled materials, make a piece of art with an optional "heart" theme to take home for yourself or your Valentine! Led by artist Glenn Shiring. Materials provided.

The Best of Britain Tea Party
Saturday,Febraury 23 at 3:00 p.m.
The Kent Island Branch will be hosting a tea party in celebration of two famous British imports: Jane Austen and Downton Abbey. In addition to fending off match-making mammas and sizing up the wealth of any and all eligible bachelors, tea party guests are invited to learn the popular card game "Whist". Costume and hats (from both the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries) are encouraged to get everyone in the spirit of the event, but not required. The program is free, but R.S.V.P.s are required to attend. To reserve your spot, please call The Kent Island Library at 410-643-8161.

Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin
Join us as we discuss the book that inspired the Oscar-buzzed film. Lincoln: Team of Rivals doesn't just tell the story of Abraham Lincoln: it is a multiple biography of the entire team of personal and political competitors that he put together to lead the country through its greatest crisis. In the book, Doris Kearns Goodwin, profiles five key players, four of whom contended for the 1860 Republican presidential nomination and all of whom later worked together in Lincoln's cabinet.

Guest presenters Tanner Sparks and Alex Champion of the Maryland State Archives will be bringing their Legacy of Slavery in Maryland research project to the Centreville Branch. Their presentation will be about the Queen Anne's County slaves who freed themselves (or attempted to) through freedom petitions or by taking up arms for the United States Colored Troops in the Civil War.
