Christ the King Sunday
November 22, 2015

Christ the King Sunday...
the last Sunday in the liturgical year...

 ,

Did you know that the liturgical year begins with the First Sunday in Advent? But first, we begin by commemorating Christ the King. This week's scripture references are Revelation 1:4b-8 and John 18:25-37.

John 18:25-37: Pilate asked him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice."

We hope that you can join us in worship on Sunday. Click here for Sunday's worship bulletin.

New Consecration Sunday Update

Maybe it's me but this time of year carries with an extra portion of cheerfulness. There may be many reasons why this is so but I believe I understand why this is true. The apostle Paul tells us when he reminds us of a kingdom principle. Often overlooked, for it seems counterintuitive, it is none-the-less tried and true. Inspired by the Holy Spirit he writes in 2 Corinthians 9:7 "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. Each person should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver". God lives a cheerful giver for God is a cheerful giver. Giving grows the giver and reminds us God cannot be out given. The result of giving is a distinct sense of cheerfulness!

As of today, we've received 162 Estimates of Giving cards pledging $634,325. We still have 219 families who've not yet responded to our Consecration Sunday, and we encourage your participation. Of these, 46 families made pledges for the current year and we pray they will submit a card for this year.

Based on past experience, we project an additional $60,440 in pledges for an anticipated $694,765 pledged income for 2016. Compare this to the $602,194 pledged for the current year and you can understand how we are encouraged and cheerful.

As we begin to prepare our budget for 2016, we will also project $20,000 in service/usage fees and $29,000 in loose offerings. This adds up to a potential budget of $743,765 for 2016 compared to our total budget for 2015 which was $677,194. If cheerfulness could be quantified it might look like a
$66,571 increase!

God loves cheerful givers for God is a cheerful giver and cannot be out-given. Shhhh! I believe I can hear with the ears of my heart. The harmony of the heavenly host rising from faint chorus to mighty crescendo for all the world to hear-"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to all people on whom his favor rests"!

Praise the Lord for our gracious response to God's grace and love.

Advent Craft Leaders Needed!
On December 9th, we will have another wonderful opportunity for children and adults to make gifts for our mission partners, their families, and friends. We need at least eight adult leaders per night to work in teams to help lead craft stations. All of the supplies will be provided by the church. Leaders are asked to help with preparing supplies, setting up, explaining, and cleaning up the craft they will lead. Please contact Cameron Smith if you are available to help.
