We extend a very sincere thank-you to member Julie Frye for our updated logo! You may recall the slogan was developed when we celebrated JIPC's tricentennial in 2006.

We are approaching a very busy weekend (as if most of our weekends aren't very busy!) and as we proceed, we all must remember that our primary focus should be worshiping God.

We start off Saturday with our third Saturday of Habitat work. This will be our third week and then May 23 will be our final workday for this project. There are morning and afternoon shifts available for both this week and next.  Click here to contact Henry Meeuwse to sign up or get more information. If you're unable to commit for a full shift, you're also welcome to stop by and help with preparing or serving lunch or even to offer encouragement.

Saturday evening is our annual Youth & Children's Banquet. This is an opportunity for our youth and children to raise funds to help offset the costs of retreats, mission trips, & trainings. In addition, a portion of the proceeds will be sent to Remember Niger Coalition. Even now, our cooks are busy in the kitchen with the prep work for the meal!

Sunday's schedule is below, as well as a link to Sunday's bulletin. Be sure to check the bulletin for a full schedule of JIPC events.

Malice in the Palace

The Story of Esther

By Tom S. Long and Allen Pote

The story of Esther has all the ingredients for a great Hollywood thriller: a beautiful and spirited heroine, a dark-hearted villain, a twisting plot full of danger and intrigue, and a cliffhanger of a climax.  And in the midst of this excitement we find a powerful message, that even the smallest person acting bravely can make an enormous difference. Join us on May 31.

Spring Mission'15: Habitat for Humanity
One Great Hour
We thank each of you who has contributed to our One Great Hour of Sharing offering! We will continue to accept your offerings - everything we receive above the minimum goal of $10,000 will be applied to help the family furnish and stock the house. The 2*4*8 posts that we signed and decorated have been installed in the house frame and are there for the life of the house.

Now it's time to help with the build!
Our second workday was last Saturday, and we will work the next two Saturdays in May with two shifts each day (8am - 12noon and 1-4pm). You can sign up for as many shifts as you like! We will have the grill on site and serve lunch for all the work group and Laurel Oak Grove residents. Sign up sheets are in the narthex, or you can email Henry Meeuwse here to sign up. There are jobs big & small, of all types, including cooking and serving lunch. Please join us.

Note: the Laurel Oak Grove work site is on Fort Johnson Road, James Island.

At the JIPC Leadership Retreat in January, the session and staff identified "maintaining better contact with our members" as one of our priorities for ministry in 2015. With this in mind, our new Shepherding Ministry was born. Members of the congregation have been divided into small groups based upon participation in the various ministries of JIPC. Each of these groups' ministry leaders will help us to stay connected with the members within their shepherding group. Those of you whose main connection is through Sunday morning worship were divided among the elders who will work to help us stay connected with all of the members of JIPC.  Shepherding Group Leaders will periodically review their rosters and alert the pastoral staff to any changes or pastoral needs within their group. We hope that this new ministry will be very helpful to our pastoral staff as well as the Membership and Congregational Care Committees as we seek to stay connected with our members and minister to your needs. If you have any questions about this new ministry, please contact Cameron Smith at 795-3111, ext. 203.

What happened to those pictures we took?
Do you ever wonder what happens to all the pictures we take at JIPC? Images dating back to 2004 are all posted on our secure Virtual Church Bulletin Board at www.jamesislandpresbyterian.shutterfly.com. Be sure to log in and be addedto this great site so you can stay connected to your church family. Please share your pictures from church events so that we can all enjoy them!

Under Construction! We are currently updating our church website so that it will be more useful to guests and help our members stay connected and informed. Special thanks to member Jon Frye for his hard work on designing a beautiful site to get the word out about serving God through the ministries of JIPC. Check out www.jamesislandpc.org over the next few weeks to see the changes.
