Greetings!

Let me express my gratitude for the warm and gracious welcome I have received upon my arrival. Each and every gesture has impacted me in significant ways. It confirms my excitement of serving as your Head of Staff.

I am currently busy getting to know our church family. Listening to our history, learning about the situations and circumstances that have shaped our church, and helping to reconcile and bring healing on the heels of a difficult season in our life together occupy my time. Budget concerns, leadership, mission and vision directions, building community, nurturing young adults and their families in their lives of faith, and community outreach are all on the radar screen. Ours will be a great adventure as we plot a new course into our next steps.

Building genuine, authentic and caring community is time consuming. It seems a bit counter-intuitive when colliding with the rush and hurry-up way of living we are all caught up in. Please know that I am committed to engaging in the wonderful work of building relationships as I believe they are the foundation upon which we build a transformational life together.

When you stop by the church, check to see if my office door is open. If it is, take it as an invitation to stop in and chat. Listening to your stories and how you see the Lord at work in your lives touches me deeply and inspires my heart.

With gratitude and thanksgiving,

Pastor Sam

There's not enough room in the bulletin to list all of the youth goings-on. Mark your calendars now for our Annual Youth & Children's Banquet and Silent Auction on May 16. This event is an opportunity for our youth & children to raise money to help offset retreat, mission trip, & conference expenses; in addition a percentage of the funds they raise will benefit the Remember Niger Coalition. This is the first time this opportunity has been available for our children, so parents be sure to check in with Duncan for more information. Spring Mission'15: Habitat for Humanity
One Great Hour
We thank each of you who has contributed to our One Great Hour of Sharing offering! We will continue to accept your offerings - everything we receive above the minimum goal of $10,000 will be applied to help the family furnish and stock the house. The 2*4*8 posts that we've been signing and decorating have been installed in the house frame and are there for the life of the house.

Now it's time to start helping with the build!
We will work the first four Saturdays in May with two shifts each day (8am - 12noon and 1-4pm). You can sign up for as many shifts as you like! We will have the grill on site and serve lunch for all the work group and Laurel Oak Grove residents. Sign up sheets are in the narthex, or you can email Henry Meeuwse here to sign up. There are jobs big & small, of all types, including cooking and serving lunch. Please join us.

Note: the Laurel Oak Grove work site is on Fort Johnson Road, James Island.

What happened to those pictures we took?
Do you ever wonder what happens to all the pictures we take at JIPC? Images dating back to 2004 are all posted on our secure Virtual Church Bulletin Board at www.jamesislandpresbyterian.shutterfly.com. Be sure to log in and be addedto this great site so you can stay connected to your church family. Please share your pictures from church events so that we can all enjoy them!

Under Construction! We are currently updating our church website so that it will be more useful to guests and help our members stay connected and informed. Special thanks to member Jon Frye for his hard work on designing a beautiful site to get the word out about serving God through the ministries of JIPC. Check out www.jamesislandpc.org over the next few weeks to see the changes.
