We hope you were able to meet Reverend Sam Martin last week. We will celebrate and welcome him and his family on Sunday afternoon at our annual Picnic on the Farm. There are links below if you've not yet signed up for the picnic. And if you've forgotten to sign up, no worries - we've arranged for lots of food! Join us!
First on Sunday, though, there's worship. The scripture references are John 10:11-18 and Psalm 23. Sam Martin will be preaching, and Henry Meeuwse will be liturgist. During our 11:00 worship service, James Steed will be ordained and installed as Elder, helping to lead our Youth & Children committee.
Click here for a copy of the letter we mailed announcing Reverend Sam's appointment and mini-bio.

Our May schedule is getting full and we'll publish a calendar soon. In the meantime, if you have any students in your family graduating from high school or college this year, please send us their information so we may recognize their achievements. Please send name, school from which graduating, degree (if appropriate), and plans for immediate future to us by clicking here.

|
- Worship, 8:30am & 11:00am
- Reverend Sam Martin, preaching
- Henry Meeuwse, liturgist
- Scripture references
- Membership Committee meeting, 12:00noon
- Picnic on the Farm, 4:00pm
Click here for a copy of Sunday's bulletin which includes a full schedule of the week's activities. Last week we reported that our folding machine, which we'd had since 2001, had died. We have very generous members, and we've been able to replace our machine. Thank you!
There's not enough room in the bulletin to list all of the youth goings-on. Mark your calendars now for our Annual Youth & Children's Banquet and Silent Auction on May 16. This event is an opportunity for our youth & children to raise money to help offset retreat, mission trip, & conference expenses; in addition a percentage of the funds they raise will benefit the Remember Niger Coalition. This is the first time this opportunity has been available for our children, so parents be sure to check in with Duncan for more information. Click here for a copy of Duncan's recent email to families.

We thank each of you who has contributed to our One Great Hour of Sharing offering! We will continue to accept your offerings - everything we receive above the minimum goal of $10,000 will be applied to help the family furnish and stock the house. The 2*4*8 posts that we've been signing and decorating have been installed in the house frame and are there for the life of the house.
Now it's time to start helping with the build! We will work the first four Saturdays in May with two shifts each day (8am - 12noon and 1-4pm). You can sign up for as many shifts as you like! We will have the grill on site and serve lunch for all the work group and Laurel Oak Grove residents. Sign up sheets are in the narthex, or you can email Henry Meeuwse here to sign up. There are jobs big & small, of all types, including cooking and serving lunch. Please join us.
Note: the Laurel Oak Grove work site is on Fort Johnson Road, James Island.

Under Construction! We are currently updating our church website so that it will be more useful to guests and help our members stay connected and informed. Special thanks to member Jon Frye for his hard work on designing a beautiful site to get the word out about serving God through the ministries of JIPC. Check out www.jamesislandpc.org over the next few weeks to see the changes.
