Greetings!
Last Sunday our guest preacher, Russ Blackwelder, remarked that the fact that we know how the story of Holy Week will end can be both a source of comfort and a source of complacency. We can easily become so familiar with Christ's journey to the cross that we fail to walk it with him as we remember all that led up to that first Easter Sunday morning. One of the best ways I know to guard against that complacency is to gather with God's people in worship throughout Holy Week. When we take time to walk the streets of Jerusalem, gather in the Upper Room and recall the Passion of Christ on the cross, we are able to truly appreciate the fullness of joy as we declare, "He is risen indeed!" on Easter morning.
Please make plans to join us this Holy Week at James Island Presbyterian Church. In addition to our worship services, we will have opportunities to enjoy one another's company at the Palm Sunday Festival, Good Friday Fish Fry, and Easter Sunday Potluck Breakfast. Each service and special program is an excellent opportunity to invite friends and family to experience the joy of being a part of the Body of Christ at JIPC.
In Christ,

The anticipated cost is approximately $33,000 and as of now, 26 generous members (lay and leadership) have pledged/given an additional $20,550 (range of gifts: $50 - $10,000). We thank you all very much! We also extend a hearty thank-you to our building staff, elders, & committee members who have been working to ensure a comfortable sanctuary for worship services!
