Greetings! As Christians, we are all called to follow Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and to obey God's commands. However, each of us is also specifically called and gifted for areas of ministry that are unique to our special time and place in God's kingdom. Discerning God's will in these situations can be hard at times. Thankfully, God has given his Word and his Spirit so that we can discover how to follow Christ faithfully as individuals and as a family of faith. As we prepare for Lent at James Island Presbyterian, we are reflecting on Micah 6:8, "He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" We are taking time to look closely at ways that we are called to do "what is good" in the eyes of God. How do we work for justice? What does it mean to love kindness and mercy? How can we walk humbly in relationship with God? I hope you will join us on February 18 for our Ash Wednesday worship service and dinner as we begin this six-week Lenten journey together. I trust that if our eyes are open, we will find this season to be full of opportunities to do "what is good" in the eyes of our Lord. Thankfully, we will not make this journey alone. God is with us and has surrounded us with brothers and sisters in faith to help us each step of the way.
