Marina Grgas Grand Vice President - Collegiates

Greetings from your Grand Vice President for Collegiates!
Fall is officially here. The season is associated with many things--colorful foliage, cooler temperatures, pumpkin-flavored everything and the start of a new school year. I hope you all enjoyed your summer breaks and are ready to kick off another productive semester.
For those of you who attended this summer's convention, I hope you enjoyed the collegiate conference and went home with some new ideas for chapter events and projects.
If you took away an idea from the collegiate conference and implemented it within your chapter, please let me know...I would love to hear about it so you can be featured in the next edition of LinKS.
I hope you all enjoy this Fall Edition of LinKS. Feel free to email me suggestions for future LinKS publications.
Lambs Love,
Marina Grgas

2013 Collegiate Chapters of the Year
| |
In Boston this summer, several collegiate chapters were recognized for their outstanding work over the past year. Traditionally, Lambda Kappa Sigma has recognized the top 3 Chapters of the Year. I felt that this was not enough. Each and every year, so many chapters do outstanding work but are never recognized because they do not fall into the top 3. To ensure more chapters were recognized, a new award category was created--Regional Chapter of the Year. This new category recognizes the top chapter within each region.
Overall, the scores were outstanding this year. You are all doing a great job, so keep up the good work! Please know that your Region Supervisors and I are always available to help!
And the winners were...

Grants in the amount of $1000 each will be awarded. Recipients of grants must rank in the upper half of their class academically. In addition, they must be collegiate or alumni members in good standing with Lambda Kappa Sigma. The International Office will verify current dues-paid status prior to grant release.

Risk Management and the Code of Conduct
| |
Lambda Kappa Sigma adopted a Risk Management program in 2008 to protect our members and our Fraternity. Through this program, LKS has taken a strong stance against hazing, drugs and alcohol.
A Code of Conduct was created and each member is required to read and sign it.
In addition, LKS has implemented an event-planning approval process for overnight and weekend chapter events, as well as events that are held greater than 40 miles from the campus. If your chapter wishes to plan such an event, please submit a petition and an event planning form to the Grand Council 30 days prior to the date of the event.
The Grand Council is currently working on detailed event guidelines to assist with planning. Stay tuned for more information. Please contact your Region Supervisor if you have any questions regarding Risk Management and/or the Code of Conduct.

2014 Convention | |

Stay tuned for more information regarding the 2014 Lambda Kappa Sigma Annual Convention, which will be held at the Waldorf Astoria in Naples, Florida!

LKS Trivia
| |
New to LinKS: LKS Trivia! In each edition of LinKS, I will post one trivia question. The first 5 collegiates who answer the question correctly will win a prize! (Sorry, y ou cannot win more than once a year.) Just email your answer to me.
Here is the question...
During the Centennial Convention in Boston, Lambda Kappa Sigma chartered a brand new collegiate chapter. What is the name of this chapter and what school are they from?

Communications | |
Every chapter must maintain communication with their Region Supervisor, Grand Vice President for Collegiates and IO. Your Region Supervisor should have communicated with you what their expectations are, what reports you need to send and important deadlines. Please be sure to review all the IO deadlines and ensure all deadlines are met. When emailing me, your GVPC, please use the following email address: gvpc2012@yahoo.com.
