August 2014

Letter from the Editor

Hello everyone!

Did you know that August is National Golf Month? That means our president Len should be enjoying a lot of golf this month... when he's not busy with Excellware, of course!

And we hope you can find some leisure time, too -- especially in order to read this month's newsletter. :) We have another instructional video that will be of use to those of you who need to know how to set up security levels. Don't forget to let us know what you'd like to see in future videos!

We also have some other news intended to keep you up-to-date on computer issues. As usual, I'd love to hear from you. Direct any questions or comments to my email address shown below.

Until next time!

Dynamo Now Supports Use of Cash Drawers for PCs

The Electronic Cash Drawer application that has been added to Dynamo will allow an operator to open a USB cash drawer from a Windows PC. It can be found on the Point of Sale Functions (POS) menu. The application will also integrate into Sales Order Processing when taking a cash payment and in Cash Drawer Balancing.

If you're interested in a quote on Dynamo compatible cash drawers, please contact Mike Jarvi.

What is the Cyber Information Sharing Act (CISA)?
declaration-independence.jpg

On July 8th, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence voted to approve CISA, the Cyber Information Sharing Act. The bill's intention is to protect the web from cyber threats, such as hackers, by collecting security information from businesses and the private sector. Since the bill was approved by the Committee, it will soon be up for debate in the Senate. Opponents have privacy concerns regarding the proposed bill, as they believe it can increase the NSA's power to collect private information from businesses and individuals on the Internet.

For more information, please check out this article or read the full text of the CISA bill.
