As mentioned in my last newsletter, CNN featured ILRCSF's architect, Chris Downey, on the Dr. Sanjay Gupta Show! Chris and I can be seen going over braille architectural drawings in our new conference room. Check it out at the link below: http://www.ilrcsf.org/about/work-for-ilrc/

News at ILRCSF

There have been some important changes at ILRCSF as of late. First, our Community Organizer, Fiona Hinze, has been appointed by the Governor of California to the State Independent Living Council! Please join us in congratulating Fiona on what I'm sure will be a fantastic experience serving on the Council.

Second, ILRCSF's Assistive Technology Educator, Derek Zarda will be moving on after over four years with the agency. Please join us in wishing him a warm farewell on his next adventure by joining us for an Ice Cream Social at 3pm on Friday, 11/21 at 825 Howard St in San Francisco. Additionally, if you or someone you know would be a good fit for the position he is vacating, please visit the job listing on our website at: http://www.ilrcsf.org/about/work-for-ilrc/

Lastly, the ILRCSF Board of Directors welcomed two new members: Kristin Prudhomme from the Schindler Elevator Corporation and Chinese community & housing advocate, Jane Lam. Please join us in welcoming them to the ILRCSF family.

California Voter Accessibility Survey

Help make elections more accessible-please take this quick survey

Take the California Voter Accessibility Survey!

The California Secretary of State and the statewide Voter Accessibility Advisory Committee wants to hear about your voting experience in 2014.  Many voters with disabilities choose to vote early either by mail with an absentee ballot or an an early voting location.  If you voted please take the Voter Accessibility Survey.  This survey is for California voters.

This survey will help the California Secretary of State, County Elections Offices and their community partners better plan to make the next election more accessible for voters with disabilities. If they don't hear from voters with disabilities, they won't know where the barriers are they need to address. The Disability Organizing Network has a goal of getting 500 California voters with disabilities to take this survey by November 28, 2014.  Please don't delay, take this survey today while your experience is still fresh in your mind.
