Adaptive Re-Use for the Odd Fellows Hall
|
The Falmouth Housing Trust was selected by the Town of Falmouth to develop four units of rental community housing at this municipally owned site. The Trust is under agreement on the property with the Town of Falmouth. Currently FHT is gathering cost estimates, checking for the presence of hazardous materials on site, and number crunching.
We've tentatively selected our project team leaders, Giampietro Architects and The Valle Group. Russ Crockford, from Giampietro Architects, and Christian Valle, of The Valle Group are donating their pre-development services as we check and double check to ensure the antique building is sound. We expect their research to produce only good news, and to move to the next phase of the project in February of 2013. Stay tuned for more.

Home-Ownership Planned for 761 Teaticket Highway
|
The Falmouth Housing Trust was selected by the Town of Falmouth to develop three units of affordable home-ownership at this municipally owned site. The Trust is under agreement on the property with the Town of Falmouth.
Again, we are in our due diligence period on this project too. We are interviewing contractors and putting the final selection on architectural and site plans.
Goods news came in this week, with preliminary authorization of a Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority bus stop at the site. Again, much more to come, and do stay tuned for updates.

Holidays at the Gerald Flynn House!
| |
The holiday season can be a difficult time of year for someone who is newly recovering from addiction and mental health diangoses. The Gerald Flynn House is currently full with seven residents living with us; one senior U.S. Veteran, three women, two young men, and another older gentleman. Of our seven residents, three are fairly new, one having just moved-in two weeks ago.
Some would say living in a sober house during the holidays is not the place you'd want to be. Our residents disagree. Holiday house meals are planned, and scents of fresh baked treats fill the air in the house, and yes, our tree is trimmed.
Our residents' holidays will include an AA or NA meeting in town, and perhaps a visit with family. The holiday meal will come from donations or the clearance section at our local grocery store. Like other celebrations going on around town, our folks spend the day together, share in the cooking and dinner preparations, and sit down and whisper a few grateful words for where they are.
The Falmouth Housing Trust treats to a healthy Chinese food dinner for all as we ring in the New Year.
If you'd like to make a food or holiday decoration donation to the Gerald Flynn House, please contact the Falmouth Housing Trust office to facilitate your kindness. As always, your generosity will be acknowledged on corporate letterhead prior to year-end.
