Great books for less than the price of a coffee!

Our community members are evidently great readers - they donate a great range of fine titles. Come check out the new books - there's always a good turnover, so you're likely to find your next good read on the shelves.

Do drop in to chat with the volunteers, find information about our Landcare  work and browse the hundreds of donated books while you're there.

Gift vouchers are available too.

The Piccabeen Bookshop is maintained entirely by volunteers and all income is returned to TM Landcare's projects.

Do join us for this fun annual event.

Where: Manitzky Park, Manitzky St, North Tamborine

When: 9-11

What: tree planting and scrumptious morning tea

Bring: covered shoes, sunscreen, water + children, friends, neighbours. (All tools supplied.)

What is National Tree Day?

National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day combine to make Australia's biggest community tree-planting and nature care event. On these days Australians across the country plant and care for native trees and shrubs to improve the environment in which they live.

Since the beginning of National Tree Day in 1996, more than 3 million people have planted 21 million seedlings! That's got to be good for our country, and for us: trees are the lungs of the planet, giving us fresh clean air, storing carbon, and providing shade and habitat for wildlife.

Enjoy a morning with our Landcare volunteers and encourage biodiversity on our mountain by planting local species. Nothing could be more important for the planet or the future health and well-being of our children.

Upcoming Events: dates for your diary

Mark these dates in your diary and watch out for further details in future Newsflashes and the local newspapers.

11 September: Bushcare Major Day Out - Landcare Centre

Visit our Landcare Centre on Hartley Rd East for a variety of activities - including weeding, planting and perhaps some water bug workshops for children. While you're there, wander through our demonstration garden, that showcases our local native shrubs and trees.

Piccabeen Bookshop 10 Year Anniversary and Book Sale

At a date in September still to be determined, we will be celebrating our great little bookshop that has become such a regular haunt or a casual drop-in shop for locals. Our volunteers do wonderful work to make this such an inviting place to browse.

Look out for more details to come about the crazy book sale and coffee and cake mornings.

AGM 2nd October

This will be held in the small meeting room (off Reception) of the Eagle Heights Hotel. Light refreshments will be available from 9.30 for a 10am start. Please join us to review our work in 2015-16 and set directions for the coming year.
