Fresh stocks of great reading

Our community members are evidently great readers - they donate a great range of fine titles. Come check out the new books - there's always a good turnover, so you're likely to find your next good read on the shelves.

Do drop in to chat with the volunteers, find information about our Landcare  work and browse the hundreds of donated books while you're there.

Gift vouchers are available too.

The Piccabeen Bookshop is maintained entirely by volunteers and all income is returned to TM Landcare's projects.

Recent working bees: volunteers making a difference

Manitzky Park
Local residents and visitors from Brisbane recently planted 80 trees in an area of the park previously overrun with lantana.

Holt Park
The "mobile team" of Tamborine Mountain Landcare volunteers weeded this lovely little council park, which is well worth a visit for a picnic. TM Landcare rehabilitated the creek line many years ago, and is now wonderful habitat for wildlife.

Why not lend a hand?
New volunteers are always welcome.
Contact Judith Roland on 5545 2025 or 0429 808 206 for inquiries about working bee dates/times.

Mark these dates in your diary!

29 May: TM Botanic Gardens Open Day
These gardens are unique among Botanic Gardens in being surrounded by rainforest, which has been restored to splendour by a Landcare group. Wander round the gardens and visit our stand, which will offer information on our activities and new books for sale, including Tamborine Mountain Flora and Fauna, From Mangroves to Mountains, and our own publications on local snakes and weeds.

31 July: National Tree Day - Manitzky Park
All over Australia people who care about our natural environment will be planting trees. On Tamborine Mountain our Landcare group will be hosting a tree planting at Manitzky Park, at the end of Manitzky Rd, North Tamborine, 9-11am.

Do come along if you can: it's a great way to get to know members of our community and our Landcare organisation. As usual a splendid morning tea will be provided.
See www.planetark.org for more details.

11 September: Bushcare Major Day Out - Landcare Centre
Visit our Landcare Centre on Hartley Rd East for a variety of activities - including weeding, planting and perhaps some water bug workshops for children. While you're there, wander through our demonstration garden, that showcases our local native shrubs and trees.

Watch this space for details closer to the date.

Piccabeen Bookshop 10 Year Anniversary
At a date in September still to be determined, we will be celebrating our great little bookshop that has become such a regular haunt or a casual drop-in shop for locals. Our volunteers do wonderful work to make this such an inviting place to browse.

Look out for more details to come about crazy book sales and coffee and cake mornings.
