Fresh stocks of great reading

Our community members are evidently great readers - they donate a great range of fine titles. Come check out the new books - there's always a good turnover, so you're likely to find your next good read on the shelves.

Do drop in to chat with the volunteers, find information about our Landcare  work and browse the hundreds of donated books while you're there.

Gift vouchers are available too.

The Piccabeen Bookshop is maintained entirely by volunteers and all income is returned to TM Landcare's projects.

Greetings!
Our Landcare Centre: Worth (another) visit
  Icon for Regional Events
Local interest in our Tamborine Mountain Landcare Centre has grown recently after the idea of a Creative Hub was publicised, to be located adjacent to our premises on Hartley Road East. Whatever happens to that scheme, our centre is already a hub for our regeneration and education activities.

From humble beginnings just a couple of years ago, when our storage shed and shade house were erected in an empty field, the centre has now become a beautiful green space with progressive tree plantings and weed control around the site's edges and down to a pretty waterhole and creek.

A demonstration garden showcasing our local native shrubs and trees is almost complete, with only informative labels to be added over the next few months. Landcare members and other interested residents will then be able to wander through these gardens and identify the lovely specimens they can plant in their gardens instead of exotics.

A donation by Tamborine Mountain Little Theatre and Flying Arts from Brisbane has enabled us to install a Birdwing Butterfly vine trellis down by the waterhole, to support the host plant for this beautiful butterfly, which is endangered in South East Queensland. Photos and information have recently been erected, to educate visitors.

The centre grounds are now used by many people who undertake the Park Run track. This offers runners and walkers a safe and interesting route through to the adjacent Sports Complex.

Do take a visit the Landcare Centre. You are welcome to drive right in and park on the grounds. Wander through the demonstration garden, walk down to the picnic table and see vine trellis with its new signs. Why not bring a picnic?

Below are the trellis and signs:

 Rummage Sale Success!

Our recent humungous rummage book sale at the Landcare Centre was a great success, with over $600 raised to purchase plants for our rainforest regeneration projects. Thanks to the generosity of our mountain residents, our Piccabeen Bookshop is never short of quality second hand books. Why not check them out at our bookshop, and bring a bagful of great reading home from our next book sale?
