Great reading at the Piccabeen Bookshop

It's been a chill winter (and good reading weather), but now we're rejoicing in the return of spring. Still, any season is a good one to pick up a book! Our bookshop always has a great range of quality second-hand books at low cost, and given the quck turnover you're sure to find a book you're keen to read!

Do drop in to chat with the volunteers, find information about our Landcare  work and browse the hundreds of donated books while you're there.

Gift vouchers are available too.

The Piccabeen Bookshop is maintained entirely by volunteers and all income is returned to TM Landcare's projects.

News Flash

Monday 7th September 2015

Greetings!
Interested in serving on our Management Committee?

Would you like to serve on our Management Committee?
  • Are you enthusiastic about our Landcare work?
  • Do you have ideas on how we could do it even better?
  • Do you have administrative or management skills?
In accordance with our Constitution (18.3), "At each annual general meeting of the association, the members of the management committee [including the president, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary] must retire from office, but are eligible, on nomination, for re-election."

At our AGM on 11th October, nominations are therefore sought for the following positions:
  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • not more than eight regular Management Committee members
If you have an interest or expertise in the following areas we'd be particularly pleased if you would nominate:
  • grant application writing
  • events coordination
  • education
  • media communications, including Facebook
  • plant propagation
  • knowledge of local flora and fauna habitat management
If you would like to put up your hand for the committee, here's how:
  • You need to be a current member.
  • You need two current TM Landcare members to nominate you.
  • Your nomination must be in writing, signed by you and those who are nominating you.
  • The form must be given to the secretary at least 14 days before the AGM (i.e. received no later than Friday 25th September).
The nomination form can be found on the TML website (www.tamborinemtnlandcare.org.au): go to the menu on the left, click on Forms and Documents. Under Administration you'll find the form AGM - Management Committee Nomination Form, which you can print out.

Alternatively, you can pick up the form at the Piccabeen Bookshop (behind Joseph the Greengrocer, down the lane beside the Three Little Pigs café).

The form can be mailed to
Wendy Morgan, Secretary, TML
PO Box 161
North Tamborine QLD 4272

or delivered to the Piccabeen Bookshop in an envelope marked Attn: Secretary.

Do consider nominating - the duties aren't heavy and the meetings are very friendly.
 Landcare Scarecrow: helpers needed!
  GLOSSY BLACK COCKATOO
We've got a great idea for a scarecrow - but we need volunteers to help construct it. No special skills are needed (though they're always welcome): all you need to contribute is enthusiasm.

This is a great opportunity for families to get involved.

If you'd like to help, our scarecrow coordinators would love to hear from you:

PS: the photo isn't of a crow but a glossy black cockatoo.
