Great reading at the Piccabeen Bookshop

It's a chill, dank winter. Just the weather to pick up a book! Our bookshop always has a great range of quality second-hand books at low cost, and given the quck turnover you're sure to find a book you're keen to read!

Do drop in to chat with the volunteers, find information about our Landcare  work and browse the hundreds of donated books while you're there.

Gift vouchers are available too.

The Piccabeen Bookshop is maintained entirely by volunteers and all income is returned to TM Landcare's projects.

At our AGM this year we have several important agenda items:

  • electing our President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Management Committee
  • voting on our proposed new Constitution
  • voting on two nominations for Life Membership.

See below for details.

Please join us at this meeting!

Annual General Meeting - do join us for breakfast!

We'll be delighted if you can join committee members and other Landcare members for a buffet breakfast (8:30-9:30) at Eagle Heights Hotel before the meeting on Sunday 18th August.

Please RSVP to the secretary (email secretary@tamborinemtnlandcare.org.au or phone 5545 4618) by no later than Mon. 12th August, giving the name of each member who will be attending.

When you arrive for breakfast at the bistro please tell the staff you're a Landcare member. You'll be given a receipt and can then choose your meal at the buffet.

Our AGM will be held in the small meeting room off Reception. Coffee and tea will be available from 9:30 and the meeting will commence at 10 a.m.

 Annual Elections

In accordance with our Constitution (13.3), "At each annual general meeting of the association, the members of the management committee [including the president, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary] must retire from office, but are eligible, on nomination, for re-election."

Nominations are therefore sought for the following positions:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • up to 5 regular Management Committee members.

Would you like to serve on our Management Committee?

  • Are you committed to our Landcare work?
  • Have ideas on how we could do it even better?
  • Have administrative or management skills?

If you have an interest or expertise in the following areas we'd be particularly pleased if you would nominate:

  • grant application writing
  • events coordination
  • education
  • media communications.

If you would like to put up your hand for the committee, here's how:

  • You need to be a current member.
  • You need two TM Landcare members to nominate you.
  • Your nomination must be in writing, signed by you and those who are nominating you.
  • The form must be given to the secretary at least 14 days before the AGM (i.e. received no later than Friday 2nd August).

The nomination form can be found on the TML website (www.tamborinemtnlandcare.org.au): go to the menu on the left, click on Forms and Documents. Under Administration you'll find the form AGM - Management Committee Nomination Form, which you can print out.

Or you can pick up the form at the Piccabeen Bookshop (behind Joseph the Greengrocer, down the lane beside the Talk of the Town café).

The form can be mailed to

Wendy Morgan, Secretary, TML

PO Box 161

or delivered to the Piccabeen Bookshop in an envelope marked Attn: Secretary.

Remember, all nominations must be received no later than Friday 2nd August.

 New Constitution

Changes to the Associations Act (2007) require us to update our present (now outdated) constitution. Members must vote on the draft constitution by means of a Special Resolution at our AGM.

The draft constitution can be viewed / downloaded from our TML website (www.tamborinemtnlandcare.org.au): go to the menu on the left, click on Forms and Documents. Under Constitution you'll find 2013 Draft New Constitution.

If you would prefer, you can request a printed copy from the secretary (email secretary@tamborinemtnlandcare.org.au or phone 5545 4618), giving your name and postal address.

A copy will also be available to view in the Piccabeen Bookshop.

Most of the proposed changes are minor. Your attention is however drawn to Section 40 (highlighted), concerning proxies, where a choice of options is presented for voting on at the AGM.

 Life Membership Nominations
