General Meeting Presentation

The welcomed visit by Scenic Rim Regional Council's Mayor Cr John Brent and Cr Richard Adams at the general meeting last week was highlighted by the presentation of the Certificate of Appreciation.

On presenting the certificate, Cr John Brent noted the continued achievements made by members of TM Landcare. After viewing photographic presentations of recent activities and forest regeneration progress - Cr John Brent also made note that TM Landcare is reputed by demonstrating its accomplishments to sponsors and funding supporters by records and photographs.

Mayor Cr John Brent also announced that the Scenic Rim Regional Council will provide funding for various TM Landcare Inc activities for the 2011 - 2012 financial year. This funding is directly applied to planting, clearing, and maintenance of council owned reserves; biodiversity recording and other projects.

The last general meeting of the year for TM Landcare formalised recent appointments to vacant positions on the management committe for two new committee members.

Alan O'Neill and John Tiley were welcomed back to the management committee by the members in attendance.

Regeneration projects coordinator - Judith Roland presented a series of before and after photographs for Ohia Court and Contour Road sites, along with a report of her busy and effective activities.

Alan O'Neill presented a photographic profile of the successful support shown by our member volunteers for the community fundraising event of the year - Tour de Tamborine 2011. Alan also presented draft plans for the next twelve months to support local educational projects for children at our local schools, and other activities.

In general business, John Bestevaar proposed the concept of a photographic catalogue. The internet-based catalogue could share photographs contributed by the public as well as our own. This would keep a formal record of our own photos as well as provide a funding source via sales for use of photo material.

After discussions and questions from those present, the meeting resolved for John to further investigate the feasibility of this project.

On the first Tuesday morning of each month, a new team of volunteers led by our Regeneration Coordinator, Judy Roland, will work (and have fun and cakes) at any one of our active regeneration sites that need some TLC.

We'd love it if you could join us next year whenever you can, get to know some keen Landcare members and our various sites, and help restore our mountain's rainforests.

For more information about what's involved, contact Judy Roland (juditroland@yahoo.com.au / 5545 2052).

Sincerely,
