Greetings Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to All!
As we prepare to welcome 2016, now is a time to reflect and celebrate with family and friends! We hope each of you finds joy in this season of Christmas and Hanukkah! Together, we want to extend our most heartfelt thanks for your friendship, your business and your confidence placed with us. We hope you celebrate with your families. Take a moment to remember, and possibly help, those that will not have the means, or those that are away from their families working to support them or perhaps in public safety, emergency services and in our military. Colorado Hits Milestone for Licensed PIs! From Andrea Orozco, PPIAC VP of Legislative Affairs "As of today we have hit a milestone in the licensing program for Colorado. There are 500 licensed PI's in the state and the numbers are still growing every day. I recall in the stakeholder meetings there was concern there may only be 100 investigators in the state and everyone was worried about what the renewal fees may be in 2016. I think the current number speaks for itself. The more licensed investigators, the lower the renewal fees for the coming year. With literally only 6months into the program these numbers are amazing!" PPIAC (www.PPIAC.org) has been Colorado's proactive leader for our profession and the protection of consumers and our profession that licensing affords. We specialize in helping other PIs and attorneys assisting families! Tidbits from Our Profession

First, some sad news from NALI and ICI, and also NCISS and WAD...
ICI Member and former NALI member, Chuck Wooden, passes
In October, shortly after returning from the annual Inner Circle of Investigators conference in AZ, our group learned of the passing of Chuck Wooden. Chuck missed the conference due to attending to the matters of his dad's recent death. Like so many, we were simply stunned. Dean first met Chuck in 2001 on a trip to the Spence Law Firm, where he was a legal investigator for over 25 years. Dean had just spoke to Chuck the week before his death. Chuck was a very decent, humble and all around great guy, and truly represented all that our profession is.
WAD Past President, JD Vinson, passes
(from Bob Heales, WAD Executive Director)
It is with deep sorrow that I report the passing of our dear friend, Past President J.D. Vinson, Jr. J.D. was one of the very first people I met after joining WAD at our conference in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1983. He was a one man welcoming committee. He joined WAD in 1973 at the Annual Conference in Seattle at the age of 21. He had already been attending conferences for several years with his family. His father, Joe Vinson, Sr. was WAD President at the Hawaii conference. His daughter Christine served as our President just two years ago and is our only 3rd generation Past President and 3rd female President. WAD service runs in the family.
J.D. attended every Conference and Board Meeting for decades until his illness prevented him from travel after our Board Meeting in Mexico in March 2014. He was always active on committees and a constant sponsor of our events. He was a joy to be around and his laughter will be missed. He loved his family dearly, and I know a special joy in his life was his granddaughter Madison.
We like to share the informative articles and commentary from our friends and colleagues...
Tracking a Killer
A Creighton alumnus' life is forever changed after stumbling across newspaper clippings of his grandfather's murder.
Clem Pellet is a good friend and now colleague in the PI world. A group of NALI investigators, from all over and with various backgrounds, worked independently and as a team to bring justice back to Clem's family.

Fifth Amendment Right to Remain Silent
Prosecutorial Misconduct and the Public's Perception of Criminal Defense
You see, it is not the defense attorney's [or investigator's] job to help criminals get away with breaking the law. It is not our job to keep "the bad guys" from paying the price for their actions. Our job is to make sure prosecutors do theirs.
"Justice denied a defendant is justice denied a victim." - Dean and Karen Beers

The Quint-Essential Qualities of a Professional Investigator... | Skills Appropriate for the Assignment Law firms and medical offices specialize - Professional Investigators also specialize. Their casework and continuing education should also be in your specialized areas.
Experience and Knowledge Professional Investigators strive to maintain and further these. All professions have requirements of continuing education. The CLI program requires extensive compliance with continuing education.
Responsible and Ethical Conduct Every component of the investigation has evidentiary considerations. Professional Investigators hold themselves to a higher standard and leaves no question as to the admissibility of their evidence. Information without ethics is not evidence.
Effective Communication Professional Investigators maintain communication with the attorney, client, witnesses, and other key persons in the investigation. Moreover, reports are the product of an organized investigation and should reflect the work product you expect.
Keyword - 'Professional' Honesty, Integrity & Intelligence. These define Professional Investigators and gives you the confidence that your case is in competent and skilled hands.
