Greetings We are excited to have learned of an effort to renew National Private Investigators Day! We participated in the first, in October 2002, that was initiated by former PI Magazine owner and editor, Bob Mackowiak. We learned of this new effort from colleagues in Australia at Private Investigators Now. -- When? July 24th - commemorating the birth year of Eugene Francois Vidocq, the very first Private Investigator who founded the first known detective Agency in 1833.

Investigators' Theorem We learned of this after developing our Investigators' Theorem: 'As investigators, we are particularly keen to theorem that there is only one answer for the truth and multiple answers for the lies. Similarly, there is often one path to the truth and multiple paths to the lies.' Our mission is to find the right path for our clients.

Iowa Association of Private Investigators 2014 Conference
IAPI will be holding its annual conference July 24th & 25th in Des Moines. Dean will be speaking extensively on Death and Injury Causation Investigations on the 25th. PI Now - 'Investigating Innocence Cases with Caution'

Unless your head is buried in the sand, or you do not have the Internet, or perhaps you do not even own a television set, then you have seen the many news stories of the innocent individuals who have been released from prison. Most of the releases have been due to DNA evidence that have proven their innocence.
Personally I think this is wonderful, and every story I have read about these releases have made me feel happiness for the innocent, yet saddened that they were forced to spend so many years of their lives innocently confined to prison, separated from their loved ones, unable to live the life of freedom they deserved to live.

Special Announcement:
Mandatory Licensing of Private Investigators - to be signed by the governor!
At AFI-LLC we were chartered licensed investigators under the voluntary program since July 2012, expiring this year with the repeal of voluntary.
In May of this year, with the dedicated work of the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado, the licensing committee and supporters - mandatory licensing passed the legislature. It is reported that the governor will sign the bill by June 6th.
Associations are as strong as their membership and leaders, and a great deal takes place on a daily basis that is simply unrecognized. These accomplishments often take a great deal of personal and professional time and sacrifice, hundreds of hours and even days.

The FTC released its long awaited report on the data broker industry. As most stakeholders predicted, the report called on Congress to enact the report's recommendations. The report, "Data Brokers: A Call for Transparency and Accountability," made legislative recommendations based on the three general types of data broker products.

NCISS and State Legislative Awareness Monitoring on PI's Declassified! Today, NCISS announces two new programs to assist security professionals and private investigators expand their legislative knowledge and influence. Many states with lay coroner systems and part-time 'investigators' pay a flat fee - and it is very detrimental.
