Framing Corner
Making it work...
Which frame to pair with your art
We advocate choosing the frame for the art, simply because a frame should enhance your art, not detract from it. You'll find below three pairings and the ?why? behind it:
Grounded Vibrancy
This particular painting, with it's intense yellow and tree theme, pairs beautifully with a slightly distressed, yet still modern frame. The wood detail of the frame mimics the trees in the painting, while it's neutral brown color serves as a wonderful backdrop for the vividness of the color to bounce off of!
Black and White and Black Again
Black and white photography always works with a simple black frame. Devoid of colors to compete with, the dark frame does well in keeping the look tonal. But, bare in mind that black is far from boring, and again, the photo's subject matter can strongly dictate texture, size and intensity of the frame.
Same art, three options
And here we have a final example that demonstrates that more often than not, custom framing is based on instinct rather than on any clear cut rules. The needlepoint featured below works well with either of these frames and relies on style preferences.
