Homework : : Work from Home
sept | oct eNews
It's finally Fall!
Fall is finally upon us, which typically means the start of school--although some of us actually started in August! (what was the school district thinking?!)

And with school comes it's oh-so-lovely companion: Homework. However, we know that homework is no longer just for the students in our households, but for the breadwinners as well. With many of you telecommuting and doing the 'work-from-home' hustle.

So in this issue we'll be looking at Home Office spaces that can be used (and enjoyed) by all who occupy them. We'll also throw in a tip or two on how to stay organized & balanced in this homework/office space. Goodness knows we can all use help in that area, right?

So let's get to work, shall we.

Tips from the Pro
When does work end? That's a really good question.

If you asked me that question 10 years ago, I would have said 'never'. However, during that time, some things have changed in my life, and I realize there are things that mean more to me than my work. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do and have been blessed to know what I wanted to do since I was 16, but as people we are just too busy.

How do we slow down when this world we live in says that "busy is good"? Is busy really good? I am not so sure anymore. These are the questions: How do we balance our lives? How do we make a conscious decision to not take our work home with us? How do I make myself available for my wife & son; and I don't just mean a physical body standing there, I mean really being present mentally.

I think it starts with asking ourselves "what are my core values?" and then making a determined effort to figure out what they really are. Mine start with God, wife, family, friends, work -- do my actions match my values as of now? I don't think they do, but I am able to recognize it and that is a good start.

What are your core values? What drives you everyday, or does your day drive you and
you have no idea where you are headed?

Food for thought until we meet again....from a book I am currently reading [Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster]:
In contemporary society our Adversary majors in three things: noise, hurry, and crowds. If he can keep us engaged in "muchness" and "manyness", he will rest satsified. Psychiatrist Carl Jung once remarked, "Hurry is not of the Devil; it is the Devil."

Employee Spotlight >>> Chris Paniagua
A decade ago in 2005 we made a great hiring decision when we welcomed our nephew, Chris Paniagua, to our team of employees.

Prior to joining us Chris was working for one of our subcontractors learning the plumbing trade and once on board with us he put those skills to use, as well as learning a multitude of other ones over the years. He has definitely put in some blood, sweat & tears during that time and is currently acting as our Project Manager.

Chris brings a great perspective to our workplace, but outside of the office he is just as hardworking and very involved in the community. He coaches both of his children [Ella (9) and Caleb (6)]in soccer, and has coached his son's Little League team as well. His wife Lillian is blessed to have such a loyal, dedicated husband.

Happy 10th Work Anniversary Chris, we look forward to the years to come -- collaborating with you in future endeavors within the company!

Making Headlines

So, we made it onto yet another list: Qualified Remodeler's Top 500!

We reached #483 on the list and it marked our first showing on their list of Full-Service Remodelers throughout the nation.

We know the importance of humility, but it is quite interesting to see our business recognized among others in the trade and see the unending possibilities.

#483 isn't bad, but now we have a goal to set for next year....how much farther up the list can we should we shoot for?

In The Community
Over the last 2 years we have sponsored & been involved with the Southern California Seahorses Soccer Program.

Their vision is to generate teams of influential coaches and players who inspire people to flourish in and for Christ wherever they are planted. Along with a mission to glorify God and see lives transformed by communicating the message of Jesus Christ through the global environment of soccer.

Their
international focus thrives to partner with national churches and Christian organizations to develop culturally relevant soccer ministry programs that become self replicating. And has therefore led to a recent 'brainstorm' partnership with our affiliation with Hope of Life International in Guatemala.

We will keep you posted....please keep us in your prayers : )
