Choices.
may| june eNews
Hi, hello, hola.....,
(Just practicing a little bit of the Spanish we've finally decided to learn after our recent trip to Guatemala!)

But back to the subject at hand: Choices.

They are many:  High road, low road? Good, bad? Right, wrong? Happy, sad? Truth, lie? Fast, slow? Love, hate?

As you can see, the choices are countless and yet we must make them every minute of every day. So, what can we do in our lives to ensure we make the right choices? How can we keep ourselves in check? Are we willing to do whatever it takes to satisfy our own expectations and to respect the people in our lives by treating them fairly and lovingly?

Hope you've got some time to ponder, because this issue is forcing you to think isn't it?

Enjoy.....

Tips from the Pro
Did I really choose to be a contractor or did God bless me with the gifts and talents that marry well with that field? It's both - He did design me with certain gifts & talents, but He also gave me the free will to choose. That's the beauty of our choices.

It's important to remember that for every choice we make, there is a consequence [good or bad]; don't ever think that the choice you make is insignificant. Nothing you do is insignificant, every choice you make in life affects someone else's life.

So with all the choices we make day after day, how do we know we are making the right ones? I know it's not easy, and I'm not sure about you, but my choices are based on my personal foundation and that foundation is based on God's word. It isn't based on my ideas or the advice of friends (not that they may not be wise), but let's face it, He designed me and made me; He wrote my DNA and He is the one that keeps my heart pumping each and every day. I believe He knows the exact number of beats each one of us have.

The real question is this: "How do you make your choices and how is that working out for you?"

"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts & attitudes of the heart."
---Hebrews 4:12

lies initially in the choices
we make,

and it is carried on
in the habits that
keep those
choices in force.

The Choices are endless.....

On the lighter (& brighter) side, you also have choices to make with regard to the improvements you can make to your home: Inside or Outside? Single story addition or second story? Traditional or modern?

Whatever you may decide on, we are here to help you with those choices. From big to small, we've done it all and would love to assist you in the process. Remember, You Dream It. We Build It!

Single & Second Story Additions
To climb or not to climb, that is the question! Sometimes, the space you have available dictates this choice for you; either way, we can handle it.

Kitchen Remodels
From the style of the room to the materials used, the kitchen might just offer the greatest number of choices: Island, mouldings, countertop, backsplash, flooring, layout, gas or electric, appliances, the list goes on & on....

Bathroom Remodels
Shower, tub, spa;  granite, tile, quartz; we've seen them all. Create your own oasis that's just a quick jaunt down the hall.

Patios, Decks, Porches

Craftsman style or contemporary? Stackstone or brick? Trex or wood? Again, there are so many materials available to make your outdoor living area exactly the way you need it to be in order to enjoy it for a lifetime. Take your pick!
This one here is a Craftsman style with stackstone on the pillars, Trex decking, and exposed beams & rafters. Very inviting - both day & night.

Our twenty-six years in business have given us the opportunity to meet thousands of homeowners and complete almost as many projects; and of course within each of those have been a myriad of discoveries. So, rest assured, you'll be in good hands when you choose us for your next one!

Headlines | Loving our Neighbor

Last issue we mentioned that on April 28, Paul and his friend Matt Reekstin, were interviewed locally for a international podcast for FEBC-Korea that reaches out to Australia, Canada, China, Japan, New Zealand, India, Philippines, Russia, Thailand and the UK.

We promised to keep you posted, so here they are speaking about what it means to love your neighbor; both Paul & Matt have 2 episodes for your viewing enjoyment!

Paul, Episode 2

Matt, Episode 1
Matt, Episode 2

So, now the question is: "How do you love your neighbor?" What choice will you make the next time you see them, the next time they need assistance, the next time they just want to talk?

The choice is yours......

In the [Global] Community
Man was it hot in Guatemala! But the heat & humidity did not stop us from doing what we were called to do on this trip:
  • Build 3 walls in the Community Center
  • Open up both a medical clinic to the village (for first aid & commonly treated issues) and a dental clinic (performing extractions & fluoride treatments)
  • Making house calls to pray for people
  • Re-kindling relationships from past trips
  • Creating bonds within our team & other missionaries (our neighbors)
  • ...and most importantly, we gave Maria a new home. After 12 years under sheets of plastic held up by sticks, she will now have a cinder-block 'home'.
Each day we chose to make a difference in the lives of all of those we met--giving them something positive to hold on to. However, we must admit that it is nice to be back home -- but the memories remain strong. Colonia Noruega has become our extended family; with us always & forever in our hearts.

Until Next Time
You did not choose me;
I chose you and appointed you
so that you might go and bear fruit - fruit that will last - and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
