This little light of mine...
march| april eNews
Happy Spring,
Upon reading the title of this month's eNews, we're pretty sure most of you could hum the tune to the nostalgic song. For those of you that don't currently have it playing in your head, here's a link to help you out : )

In this month's eNews, we'll be discussing all things lighting....

We will show you some interesting ways to illuminate both the interior & exterior of your home with lighting fixtures of various sorts, shapes & sizes. And, we'll also explain how we as people need to be the light for others--as a shining example!

So, get ready to let your light shine : )
Tips from the Pro
March & April have been a whirlwind around here and Paul has been on the go all day, every day. Therefore, we decided to give him a break this issue and his tips section will remain 'dark' this time around.

But given all of the activity going on, we're sure he'll have some great stuff for you in our next issue!

Customer Spotlight   |  The House on the Trail

We are so pleased with our most recently completed exterior project -- a deck & porch area added to the side of the Duncan's front entryway. "The House on the Trail" (as their young daughter named it) already had many interesting features throughout, but the front of this Craftsman home was lacking a little pizzazz.

Adding the Craftsman style lights, decking & pillars wrapped with stackstone really jazzed it up and made it so much more inviting. Complete with exposed beams, ceiling fan, and nifty, color-coordinated electrical covers, this porch is now ready for family, kids, guests & neighbors to enjoy being in community for years to come.

Thank you Duncan family for allowing us to be a part of your project!

Lights. Camera. Action.
OK, so you're probably not filming a movie in your house, but we all know just how important the right lighting can be. Not only does it have to do its job properly, it also needs to look absolutely stunning (my emphasis) and suit your decor as well.

The Dark Ages of the plain, round bulb with the pull string are long gone, thankfully. It's 2015 and we've really figured out how to illuminate incredibly now!

So here are a few favorite finds for all areas throughout your home; some are a little pricey, others are budget-friendly, but all are fun to look at!

We'd love to see some of your favorites too. Just respond to the email with a picture and/or link and we'll be sure to include it in a future article!

Flip the switch -- let's go!  : )

Headlines   |  LIGHTSHED

On April 28, Paul and his friend Matt Reekstin, were interviewed locally for a international podcast for FEBC-Korea that reaches out to Australia, Canada, China, Japan, New Zealand, India, Philippines, Russia, Thailand and the UK.

Light Shed is a video podcast that captures roundtable discussions of various scholars and ministry leaders who "shed light" on current Christian topics to engage and stir listeners' hearts, minds and souls to love God and love others.

Paul & Matt had a great time answering questions and sharing their passions about their recent mission trips to Guatemala.

We can't wait until it gets the final edit and is released next month....we'll keep you posted!

In the Community
March 22 marked World Water Day. We have certainly been talking a lot about water here in California lately. We all know how important it is to us, but just imagine what it's like for "the 750 million people who lack access to safe water" according to Water.org .

While we're being mindful of our water usage here at home, we can easily help out someone across the globe get the water they need for as little as $1. The Water.org website has stories you can read about the people in Indonesia, India, and other countries, and easy links to show you how to donate!

Lisa's Library List...

Following in our light theme, one of my recently completed books just happens to feature a light bulb on its cover! (and a very cool one at that)

In his book, AHA, pastor & author Kyle Idleman does a great job capturing our human spirit and leading us out of our distracted, and sometimes sheltered lives. He says  "the challenges and hardships of life have a way of getting our attention. Sometimes the only thing that will wake us up is a
rude awakening."

AHA [Awakening. Honesty. Action] gets our attention and shines the light on us; showing us how we must recognize and grow through the hardest of times in our lives.

I'll be honest, it turns the spotlight on certain things and really makes you take a close look -- in your face close! -- and once you've taken a look, he calls us to take responsibility.

"When we take what we have kept in the dark and drag it kicking & screaming into the light, we find that it loses much of it's power over us."

So, it's time for us all to get up and take action. Action means effort, it means change, pain and even sacrifice. Is it worth it?

We all know the answer is Yes -- we all have 'good intentions' -- but who among us is getting up? (yes, that is a challenge!)

No more excuses. No more fear. Just AHA!

**Here are some other good reads that I would highly recommend (although none of them feature a cool light bulb like AHA):

Lots of Love,

Lisa

Until Next Time
"You are the light of the world.
A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand,
and it gives light to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your light shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in heaven."

Matthew 5:14-16
