From the Vestry
Dear People of Grace,
Moving forward in our transitional process, several members of the vestry gathered last Tuesday, August 12, and assembled a series of interview questions for our meeting with Rev. Becky Michelfelder on Tuesday evening. The interview went very well, and as we wait for additional candidates from the Diocese we have begun further discussions with Rev. Becky in our mutual discernment toward an Interim Priest. We will meet with our congregational consultant Karen Salter to discuss our interview and further our journey toward a healthy transition and future.
Yours in Faith,
The Vestry of Grace Church

From the Senior Warden
A Prayer of Self-Dedication
Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to thee, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly thine, utterly dedicated unto thee; and then use us, we pray thee, as thou wilt, and always to thy glory and the welfare of thy people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
(Book of Common Prayer, p. 832)
All living things continue to grow in some way throughout their lifespan. Physical growth in one form or another continues, moment after moment, at varying rates, until death. But Spiritual growth? Not so much. Our growth with and in Christ actually requires effort and deliberate attention which, in our daily routines, somehow doesn't quite fit in with getting the homework done, getting the bills paid or getting the lawn mowed. Believe me, I get it. Spiritual growth can be a lot of extra work in our daily lives, and often is forced to fall to neglect because we have no individual support. But as I said last week, actually we are not growing alone. (click here for last week's e-Vine)
Have you ever noticed that we are called through the liturgy of our faith to nurture that growth several times a year? The promises we make in our Baptismal Covenant are reminders that we are not yet perfect, and that we are called to move deeper in our faith and make a difference in our world. We do so together as a church, always professing that we will indeed live into our baptismal vows as followers of Christ, but always "with God's help."
So, "with God's help," our spiritual growth is watered to life in Christ by the very family that is journeying with us here at Grace. "Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture onto wider seas where storms will show your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars."
But let's do it together, "with God's help."
Charles Green Turner, III
Senior Warden

An Opportunity to Serve
We are currently replacing one retiring member of the finance committee as well as seeking to add some members. We are also in search of a Treasurer.
If you have a background in business, particularly with experience in finance and would be interested in considering serving, we would love to hear from you.
If you don't have this background, but have an interest in serving and are willing to do some "on-the-job learning" we are willing to show you the ropes.
Feel free to recommend another parishioner you believe may have the right skill set and interest.
